Toni Tennille sings with the Auburn Knights
Date: ca. 1959-60 Size: 470x302 pixels
The Auburn Knights Orchestra has graduated many excellent musicians since 1930.  One of their star singers, Toni Tennille, went on to a successful career in television and as a recording artist.  So did another member of this 1959-60 band, saxophonist Dave Edwards (second from Toni's left), who played with Lawrence Welk's orchestra.  Another Knights alumnus, Urbie Green, was the only sideman featured on camera in the movie, The Benny Goodman Story.  Gerald Yelverton was ranked in the top ten of the nation's great jazz clarinetists.  Incidentally, Toni Tennille's father, Frank Tennille, sang with the first Knights Orchestra.
